This is a strategic leadership role designed for an accomplished HR professional eager to shape the future of a prominent retail technology organisation across Europe. The successful candidate will spearhead cultural transformation, talent management, and operational excellence, working closely with senior leadership to implement innovative HR strategies. With responsibility for leading a diverse pan-European HR team, this position offers the chance to make a tangible impact in a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation operating in multiple countries, requiring a balance of strategic insight and hands-on leadership.

This role requires 50% travel and you must live close to a major European airport ideally in Ireland but will also consider candidates based in Italy, Spain, France, Poland, Netherlands or Belgium. You must be able to travel freely within the EU. When not travelling it will be work from home.

While the focus is on European HR strategy and leadership, a strong emphasis is placed on driving change, developing talent pipelines, and ensuring HR operations align with regional compliance and evolving business goals. The role provides an excellent opportunity for someone with extensive cross-cultural experience and a proactive approach to HR transformation in a multinational environment.

Technical Must Have Skills:

  • Regional HR Leadership Experience – Proven success managing HR functions across multiple European countries, including understanding diverse labour laws and regulations.
  • Strategic HR Planning – Ability to develop and implement forward-looking HR strategies aligned with business transformation and growth initiatives.
  • Change Management Proficiency – Extensive experience leading cultural and organisational change, including communication and engagement strategies.
  • Talent Management & Leadership Development – Skilled in designing and executing talent acquisition, succession planning, and leadership growth programs.
  • HR Technology & Analytics – Strong grasp of HR systems, metrics, and analytics to inform data-driven decision making.

Technical Nice to Have Skills:

  • Multilingual Capabilities – Fluency in additional European languages such as French, German, Italian or Spanish is advantageous for stakeholder engagement.
  • Expertise in Retail or Technology Sectors – Background in tech, systems integration, or retail industries to support sector-specific HR needs.
  • Employee Engagement & Diversity Initiatives – Experience fostering inclusive, positive workplaces with programs to boost morale and diversity.
  • Learning & Development Strategy – Ability to partner with global L&D teams to craft impactful leadership and career development programs.
  • Operational HR Excellence – Demonstrated success in streamlining HR processes and implementing best practices at scale.

Additional Functional Requirements:

  • Cross-Cultural Communication Skills – Ability to engage effectively in a multicultural, matrixed environment.
  • High Resilience & Adaptability – Comfort navigating a rapidly changing market and uncertain organizational priorities.
  • Stakeholder Management – Proven ability to build influential relationships across senior leadership and regional teams.
  • Travel Flexibility – Willingness to travel 40-50% across European sites, with comfort consulting on-site and remotely.
  • Team Development & Coaching – Experience coaching and developing high-performing HR teams to achieve strategic goals.

Educational and Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business, or Related Field – Essential foundational qualification.
  • Master’s Degree or MBA (Preferred) – Additional qualification supporting strategic HR leadership expertise.
