They are seeking a talented CNC Automation Engineer / CAM Workflow Developer to join their team and help automate the transition from parametric CAD outputs into machine-specific formats.
Role Description
As the CNC Automation Engineer / CAM Workflow Developer, you will play a crucial role in developing intelligent toolpath workflows, reducing manual programming, and contributing to the digitization of our client’s manufacturing process. You will work closely with the product and development teams to ensure that customer-configured designs can be fabricated efficiently and accurately with minimal manual intervention.
Technical Must Have Skills:
- Proficiency in CAM Software – Extensive experience with Fusion 360, RhinoCAM, WoodWOP, or equivalent CAM environments to automate toolpath generation.
- CNC Machining Expertise – In-depth knowledge of CNC operations for cabinetry or furniture manufacturing, including nesting, tooling, and material constraints.
- Scripting and Macro Development – Proven track record of scripting or building macros in tools like Python, JavaScript, or Post Processors to automate complex CAM workflows.
- Understanding of Cabinetry Construction – Solid grasp of joinery, tooling offsets, and production optimization principles for the cabinetry/furniture industry.
- CAD to CAM Translation – Experience collaborating with CAD and backend teams to ensure seamless integration between design data and CAM output.
Technical Nice to Have Skills:
- Cabinet Design Software – Knowledge of cabinet design software like Cabinet Vision, TopSolid, or similar to enhance the CAM automation process.
- Lean Manufacturing Principles – Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts to optimize production workflows and minimize waste.
- Furniture Manufacturing Experience – Previous experience working with furniture manufacturers or related industries to automate CNC operations.
- Leadership in Manufacturing Tech – Proven ability to lead the implementation of manufacturing technology solutions in a production environment.
- Parametric Design Expertise – Familiarity with parametric design principles and their application in the manufacturing context.
Additional Functional Requirements:
- Collaboration – Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and manufacturing, to align on requirements and deliver solutions.
- Problem-Solving – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address complex manufacturing challenges.
- Attention to Detail – Meticulous approach to ensuring accurate and reliable CAM output to support high-quality production.
- Continuous Improvement – Proactive mindset to continuously optimize and refine the CAM automation workflows.
- Communication – Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Educational and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree – A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Relevant Certifications – Industry-recognized certifications in CAM software, CNC programming, or manufacturing automation would be an advantage.
