Our client is a dynamic, technology-driven company with a long and distinguished history in the construction of landmark structures around the world, particularly iconic bridges and buildings. They continue this tradition with international involvement in exciting and high profile projects in a range of industries. The company’s principal focus is the design, manufacture and operation of specialist equipment and temporary works for the construction of bridges, buildings, offshore structures, refineries, power stations and industrial plants. They have particular expertise in the erection of long span suspension and cable stayed bridges and in the engineering for specialist modular construction including heavy lifting and skidding operations.
They are opening an office in Madrid and are looking for talented Design Engineers with structural and hydraulic / heavy lifting experience to join their team. You can be based anywhere in Spain (and don’t need to speak Spanish!) …..ideal for someone looking for a sunnier way of life.
Role Description
As a Project Design Engineer, you will be working within a team of engineers and CAD technicians, carrying out conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures and equipment, particularly related to construction engineering of bridges, tower systems and complex structures. You will also be required to attend site when needed to assist in heavy lifting and moving operations (not as often as you think)
Must Have Skills
- 5 to 10 years post graduate experience
- Experience in analysis and design of structures, particularly in steel
- Experience in the use of finite element analysis computer programs
- Good general IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail systems)
- Good presentation and communications skills
- Relevant site experience
- Positive and effective team player
- Innovative and dynamic
Nice to Have Skills
- Chartered engineer, or in final stages of achieving chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)
- Experience in design of temporary works, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
- Experience in the design of hydraulic equipment
- Experience in the use of computer drafting programs (AutoCad)
