Our client is a dynamic pan-European investment firm specialising in non-performing loans across Europe. Currently expanding its analytical capabilities, they are seeking to hire a number of talented Portfolio Analysts at all levels based in Madrid to join a high-profile, international centre of excellence team.
Role Description
This role offers a unique chance to directly influence the company’s investment strategies with critical and value-adding insights. Working at the forefront of data-driven investment analysis, the successful candidates will have a lead role in strategic projects and be key to evolve their technical and analytical platform, and collaborate across borders in a fast-paced, impactful environment. You will serve as a subject matter expert, contributing to investment decision-making through detailed data analysis, model development, and stakeholder presentations. The position demands a combination of technical expertise and strategic insight, with a focus on continuous improvement of analytical practices and fostering cross-border collaboration.
Technical Must Have Skills:

Programming proficiency – Demonstrated expertise with ideally Python (company wide standard), R, SaS or similar. Good understanding of database technologies, data manipulation and modelling.

Advanced statistical, AI, and ML techniques – Practical knowledge in predictive forecasting, statistical modelling, artificial intelligence including Large Language Models (LLMs), and machine learning methods, supporting innovation, champion-challenger framework and deeper insights.

Analytical experience – Proven ability to analyse datasets, perform forecasts and generate actionable investment insights. Ideally with at least 2 years in a technical analytical role.

Strong communication skills – Ability to articulate complex technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including preparing and delivering executive presentations.

Quantitative background – Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Finance, Economics, or an equivalent, confirming a solid foundation in quantitative disciplines.
Technical Nice to Have Skills:

Experience with cloud-based analytics infrastructure – Familiarity with Azure or similar cloud platforms enhances collaboration and scalability of models.

Experience in the investment or financial sector – Exposure to portfolio management, credit analysis, or similar fields.

Familiarity with LLMs and AI applications – Practical experience in leveraging large language models for analysis supports the firm’s evolving technology landscape.

Additional language proficiency – Fluency in languages like Polish, Spanish, French, or Nordic languages lends support during regional interactions.
