Senior Data Engineer
Location:           Dundalk, Co Louth (on-Site)
Start Date:         Immediate Starter / ASAP
Employment:    Initial 6 month temporary assignment with potential to extend for up to 12 months

Our client, a leading innovator in scientific data analytics, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join their dynamic team in a temporary capacity for an initial term of 6 months with potential to extend for a number of additional months.

As the Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing complex end-to-end data pipelines that power our client’s cutting-edge data solutions. Your expertise in automation, cloud infrastructure, and data governance will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless flow of information from project inception to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer:

  • Maintain and optimize data pipelines connecting various systems, including SharePoint, Azure SQL, AWS S3, and internal platforms.
  • Implement and refine automation workflows using Power Automate, PowerShell, and Python scripts for file handling, syncing, and logging.
  • Build robust Power BI dashboards with advanced DAX, measures, and direct query models to support real-time operations, shift analysis, and forecasts.
  • Manage integrations across AWS S3, Azure Data Lake, and SQL environments, ensuring data availability, reliability, and shift-based scheduling.
  • Enforce data management best practices, including standardized naming, lifecycle rules, and metadata tagging across survey, sensor, and operational projects.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and serve as a standby escalation point during mission-critical survey periods.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 12+  years of experience in a senior technical role, analytics engineering, or data platform management, comfortable working with hyper-scale data volumes.
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, PowerShell, and Power Query.
  • Extensive experience with Power BI, including complex measures, dynamic slicers, and time-based analysis.
  • Hands-on knowledge of AWS (S3, permissions, sync) and Azure (SQL, Data Factory, Logic Apps).
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining automated workflows for structured and unstructured data.
  • Expertise in data governance implementation, QA workflows, and operational reporting.
  • Familiarity with complex data such as sensor logs, geospatial processing, or time-series analysis is a strong advantage.
