If German Investment Fund Tax is your craft — the legislation, the edge cases, the client debates, the technical “so how do we actually implement this?” — this is a role built for you.
We’re hiring an Investment Tax Manager into a high-visibility, senior individual contributor position in Frankfurt, where you’ll act as the trusted thought leader for German investment tax topics and help shape how complex tax positions are translated into real operational delivery inside a major fund services environment.
Why this role will excite an Investment Tax specialist
You won’t be “one of many” in a broad tax team. You’ll be the person people come to when the question is hard, urgent, and high-impact — and when the answer needs to stand up to scrutiny from clients, auditors, and the tax authorities.
What you’ll be doing
- Be the central point of expertise for German investment fund taxation, especially InvStG (plus the wider German tax framework impacting funds).
- Own and resolve complex technical queries from clients, internal stakeholders, and external parties (including auditors and tax-calculation partners).
- Lead technical discussions and workshops — explaining complex tax topics clearly, confidently, and credibly.
- Turn tax positions into execution: agree the approach with stakeholders, then convert it into an internal work plan and ensure it’s implementable.
- Work closely with teams across operations, accounting, and technology where tax requirements meet systems.
What the Hiring Manager is looking for
This is a role for someone who genuinely wants to be known as a German Investment Tax authority.
You’ll be a strong match if you have:
- Deep, hands-on expertise in German investment fund tax (not general corporate tax).
- The confidence and clarity to independently analyse legislation, take positions, and defend them professionally.
- A track record of being client-facing: you can engage senior stakeholders and explain technical outcomes without over-complicating.
- Strong German and English — you can operate in German tax detail and communicate smoothly in an international environment.
- A background that ideally started closer to the “engine room” (fund accounting / fund operations) and developed into advisory/SME level impact.
Highly valued: qualification as a Steuerberater (or comparable credibility in German tax).
Work setup
- Location: Frankfurt (hybrid working pattern, 3 days in the office currently)
- Contract: Permanent
The kind of person who thrives here
You enjoy being the “final stop” for complex questions. You care about precision, but you also care about what happens after the answer — the process, the implementation, the governance. You want to build a reputation as the person who can make German investment fund tax workable at scale.
If that sounds like you, apply with your CV and we’ll take it from there.
