Our client, a leading global technology company that provides reverse vending machines and other solutions for collecting, sorting, and reusing beverage containers, promoting a circular economy, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their dynamic team initially on a 12 month fixed term contract. Ideally you will have 8+ years experience with some of this in the machinery sales, retail or logistics sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within a fast-paced, start-up environment.

As the Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the finance and accounting function is compliant with the client’s group requirements and business unit policies. You will be responsible for a wide range of financial and reporting duties, from overseeing the accounting data to providing timely and accurate financial analysis.

Role Description

The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the full scope of the finance and accounting function, including compliance, accounting, reporting, and treasury management. You will work closely with the local management team and the business unit finance department to maintain financial controls, improve data quality, and deliver insightful analysis to support decision-making.

Technical Must Have Skills:

  • Accounting and Finance Expertise – Demonstrated proficiency in financial reporting, general ledger management, and internal controls. Proven track record of managing inventory accounting and identifying areas for process improvement.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge – Thorough understanding of relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. Ability to implement and monitor adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting – Skilled in preparing monthly and annual financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis. Experience in IFRS reporting and Tagetik software is a plus.
  • Treasury and Banking Management – Responsible for managing banking relationships, cash flow forecasting, and reconciliations. Adept at resolving any discrepancies or issues that arise.
  • ERP Implementation – Familiarity with ERP systems and the ability to assist with implementation projects, if required.

Technical Nice to Have Skills:

  • Industry Experience – Prior experience in the machinery, retail, or logistics sectors would be highly advantageous.
  • Language Skills – Fluency in French is essential, and a good operational level of English is required.
  • Attention to Detail – Meticulous approach to data accuracy and quality, with a strong focus on internal controls and process improvement.
  • Proactivity and Problem-Solving – Ability to anticipate issues, identify solutions, and take initiative to drive change.
  • Stakeholder Management – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with the local management team, business unit, and external parties such as auditors and tax authorities.

Educational and Certification Requirements:

  • Educational Requirement – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (BAC+4 or +5).
  • Certification Requirement – Relevant professional accounting or finance certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) would be highly desirable.
