Coming back from summer with a “time for a step up” feeling?
We’re hiring a Data Engineer to join a modern data function supporting the Scandinavian business (Sweden + Norway), while collaborating daily with a broader European data community. You’ll be close to local stakeholders in Gothenburg, but you’ll also benefit from the standards, tooling, and peer support of an international setup.
Location: Gothenburg (hybrid / on-site approx. 50%)
Language: Fluent Swedish + fluent English (must-have)
Experience: Ideally 2+ years commercial (Master’s preferred)
Employment: Permanent
The work
You’ll design, build and improve data systems that directly impact business performance:
- Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
- Improve data quality, reliability, and availability (monitoring + practical documentation)
- Translate real business needs into scalable data solutions with local colleagues
- Collaborate with international peers on platform, tooling, and solution design
- Depending on interest and fit, there’s room to stretch into adjacent analytics / data science tasks
What you’ll bring
- Strong Python + SQL in a commercial environment
- Cloud exposure (ideally Azure)
- Hands-on exposure to orchestration (Airflow / ADF or similar)
- Familiarity with modern data processing approaches (PySpark/Polars/Delta Lake), or strong willingness to learn fast
- A structured mindset: you care about clean, reliable pipelines (not just “getting it to run”)
- Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English
Why this is a good move (especially if you’re AI/ML-curious)
A lot of strong data engineers today want to get closer to ML/AI work—but many teams don’t have a real path for that.
Here, the business is already using ML/AI, and you’ll work alongside people doing that work. While no one can promise a guaranteed transition timeline, this team has a proven pattern: several of their current ML/AI specialists started in data engineering and moved across over time as they built platform knowledge and delivered impact.
This makes the role a strong fit if you are:
- A solid Data Engineer who enjoys building the foundations properly
- Someone who has recently studied ML/AI (courses, projects, light hands-on exposure) and wants a genuine environment where that interest can grow
- Feeling “stuck” because your current employer has no AI/ML direction and limited opportunity to move beyond core DE
