We’re hiring for a fast-growing, venture-backed security software company building a modern platform used by security teams. This is a hands-on backend role in a high-ownership environment where you’ll move fast, own core services, and build reliable systems that power security workflows at scale.
Important: for this search, we’re only prioritising candidates who have (1) prior startup experience and (2) prior security software product experience.
Must-haves (hard requirements)
Domain + environment
- Startup experience: you’ve shipped and operated production systems in a startup / high-growth environment (ambiguity, pace, ownership)
- Security software product experience: you’ve built or maintained a security product (e.g., compliance automation/GRC, AppSec tooling, IAM, cloud security, vulnerability management, audit/evidence workflows, security operations tooling) as part of the core product
Technical
- Go (Golang): commercial/production backend services (not “exposure”)
- REST APIs: design + implementation of backend services/APIs
- PostgreSQL: schema design + query optimisation (high-volume data)
- 3rd‑party API integrations: building reliable integration/orchestration layers across internal + external systems
- Production observability: metrics and distributed tracing and/or structured logging (something concrete you’ve implemented/operated)
- SaaS backend/platform experience: architecting/building/operating a production SaaS backend
- Security best practices: authn/authz, secure service-to-service comms, and secure-by-default backend patterns
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Go
- Design and optimise PostgreSQL schemas and queries for high-volume data
- Build reliable integration layers across internal services and third-party systems
- Implement observability across services (metrics, tracing, logging)
- Apply security best practices across the backend
- Collaborate with other engineers to improve developer experience and overall platform reliability
Nice-to-haves
- gRPC (or similar)
- Workflow engines / queue-based job orchestration
- Deeper information security domain experience
- TypeScript exposure (helpful when working closely with frontend/fullstack teams)
