Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wind Turbine Service Technician with a strong electrical engineering background for one of our clients, a global renewable energy company that specializes in the design, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of wind turbines for onshore and offshore wind farms.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines, both onshore and offshore, with a particular focus on electrical components and systems. The technician will work independently or as part of a team to ensure that wind turbines are operating safely and efficiently, with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on wind turbines and associated electrical equipment, both onshore and offshore
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems with wind turbines, including generators, control systems, power electronics, and associated electrical components.
- Perform repairs or replacements of defective or damaged electrical components, such as transformers, inverters, switchgear, and wiring.
- Complete work orders and maintenance reports and keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed, with a particular focus on electrical systems.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines and comply with company policies and regulations related to electrical work.
- Collaborate with other team members, including mechanical technicians and engineers, to ensure that wind turbines are operating optimally and efficiently.
- Provide technical support and expertise in electrical engineering to other team members and assist with complex troubleshooting and repair tasks.
- Participate in training and development activities to improve skills and knowledge related to electrical engineering in the wind energy industry.
- Stay updated with industry standards, best practices, and technological advancements in wind turbine electrical systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in wind turbine maintenance and repair, with a focus on electrical components and systems
- Proficient in the use of electrical tools, diagnostic equipment, and software for wind turbine maintenance and repair
- Ability to work in a physically demanding and challenging environment, and to adhere to strict safety guidelines and protocols.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and to travel as needed to perform job duties
- Candidates with prior engineering experience in other heavy electrical industries such as pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, or marine engineering will also be considered.
